My young son has an infected and bleeding ingrowing nail. I tried our GP but couldn't get an appointment until next week. I noticed that the redness was spreading and phoned NHS 111 for advice. I was told to take him to the Rouen Road walk in centre.
After a 45 minute journey to the walk in centre we were turned away by the receptionist as they were only seeing emergencies. I accept that my son is not an emergency but I thought that the walk in centre was available as an out of hours alternative to A&E.
My son is in pain and I will be taking him to our surgery regardless tomorrow and will stay until they see him. Expected better service and am very disappointed.
