About: Trehafod Child And Family Service

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter has suffered with Anxiety due to having selective mutism since a very young age, she is now in her mid-teens. We have struggled over the years to find the right services to help her often having to pay privately for the help that she required. Eventually after a lot of persuasion we got our daughter referred into the CAMHS service and Trehafod accepted the referral and started to work with her. Our daughter was initially seen by a therapist weekly then fortnightly for CBT and she seemed to respond to this very positively. She also had some community based work done also. Then it was decided to discharge her from going to Trehafod and a therapist would go out from there and see our daughter and work with her within the school setting as that's where most of her anxiety was around. Well she has seen her all of twice within the last year and both of those times were before Christmas, we met with the therapist in March as our daughter had deteriorated and our gp had asked Trehafod to see her again, but they insisted on the therapist continuing to see her in school. Since the meeting in which she said to us she would see her monthly in school she went off sick so our daughter has not been seen by anyone at all from Trehafod and I just find this completely unacceptable. They did not contact us to tell me she has not been seen and they have not tried to put anything else in place either. Yet again I feel that our daughter has been extremely let down by this service and within the school year has been seen all of around 2 times!

Thank you for taking the time to feedback with regards to your negative experience of the CAMHS service which you have recently accessed. We are keen to learn from patient feedback, to enable this to happen we would need to discuss the issues raised in more detail with you. I would be grateful if you could contact me on 01685 728581, I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
