"Impatient with patient"

About: Haywood Hospital

Took my son with a painfull foot.We were seen by the triage nurse very quickly which was a pleasant surprise as department looked busy. Although my son is 20 he has learning disabilities and finds it hard to give a good history of his problem. He also could not relax his foot when the nurse instructed him to.

I felt that the nurse could have had more patience with helping my son to both give more information about the cause of his pain and with helping him to relax his foot for the examination.

I realise that the department is very busy and the nurse would not have been aware of my son's diagnosis but I don't really think it should be necessary to stick a big label on him telling people to be more understanding with him because he has a learning disablity, I think all patients should be shown the consideration they need.
