"Visit to A&E"

About: Leighton Hospital

On 28/6/16 we had visit your walk in centre my husband became quite poorly with what we thought was a chest infection whilst we were staying at my daughters in Woore, the treatment he received on first attending was excellent first by the nurse who checks what the problem is then the booking in desk after that triage all kind and caring. Everything became very different when he was seen by a Doctor who was rude and arrogant and diagnosed virus which it was not, we had to return home from our holiday and see our own GP because my husband did have a chest infection.

I think that doctor should have a little more patient care and understanding for elderly sick people we hope we never have to any more dealings with them.

Thank you for your comments following your visit to the Urgent Care Centre. I was disappointed to learn that your consultation with our Doctor did not meet your expectations and apologise that you feel you did not receive an appropriate standard of care and consideration.

The Doctor involved has received your comments and has been asked to reflect on his manner toward you, the outcome of which will be used as part of his personal learning. As a Primary Care team, the Urgent Care Centre has a strong ethos of improving quality and safety for all our patients and very much value feedback. This incident does not reflect the standard of care we deliver. As part of our lessons learned we have disseminated copies of our values and behaviour charter to all staff within the unit.

Operations Manager, Urgent Care Centre, Leighton Hospital
