"Horrified by complete disregard of elderly."

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

My 88 year old diabetic mother in law sent home this evening with a catheter in place. She lives alone with carers visiting during the day. They are unable to change catheter , no instructions were sent home with her. No letter of discharge was sent home with her for her doctor. In other words it's Friday lets just send elderly and infirm home regardless ! Her nearest family member lives an hour and a half away. This is obviously not an ideal situation but we could have made arrangements to liaise and arrange to be there for her.

Thank you for letting us know about your mother in law's discharge.

I am sorry to hear about your concerns about the arrangements that were made.

I would be grateful if you could contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01223 216756 or email pals@addenbrookes.nhs.uk so that we can obtain some more details to enable us to investigate this issue.

Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us.
