"Recent hysterectomy"

I was admitted to ward 3e on 4th June for a full laparoscopic hysterectomy after I had been diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I was scared witless! From the minute I entered the ward I was treated with kindness, dignity and understanding by every member of staff on the ward. The surgeon came to see me pre and post op. They could not have been more reassuring or calming and I will always be very grateful that they even took the time to do that. The anaesthetist was excellent and talked me through pain relief and aftercare and was so caring. The theatre nurse who came to collect me for my walk to theatre was lovely too, they could see how worried I was and chatted happily all the way there. The nursing staff couldn't have been any better despite working long hours and being constantly busy. I had my own room but they were always on hand to check I was ok. They were all so friendly, professional and caring. Even the auxiliary, catering and cleaning staff were amazing. The ward was spotless. The food was also very good. For anybody going in to have this procedure done, I would say although you are naturally nervous, don't be too scared. I had a general anaesthetic, a spinal block and was home after 2 days. I had no pain whatsoever and have made a good recovery. Thank you to all concerned. Sometimes excellent care is taken for granted and we don't always take the time to tell people what an amazing job they do. You are all superb at what you do and a huge thank you from me for my 48 hours on your ward.
