"Maternity Ward"

About: University Hospital Of North Durham

I had a emergency section on the 24th May, the staff on the ward downstairs were fantastic, professional and caring, however when I was moved upstairs to the ward it was brutal.

I was complaining I was so cold, I was told that was normal, it turned out 4 hours later my catheter from the urine bag was not in at all so I was sat swimming in my own urine! The staff were nice right up until the night shift came on.

They were lazy and damn right nasty, I had callopsed earlier in the evening when trying to walk so the night staff said if I didn't get up by 2am they would inset the catheter again.

I was told this in a really nasty way.

The 2 midwives on duty that evening had no time to help you, didn't want too and just wanted to be patronising.

It turned what had been a lovely experience into a nightmare. I was ready to discharge myself first thing the next morning, however the morning staff were amazing, lovely people and helped me get home before lunch.

There were many things the night staff did that left me an emotional wreck, never ever again would I go to Durham hospital.
