I am an informal patient at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and have been for a number of weeks. Everything was going very well until the agreement of unescorted leave became unclear for reasons unknown to myself. I had a meeting with Eleanor, who is an independent mental health advocate who works for the Advocacy Support Cymru and I felt at ease with her right away. She offered to write a letter on my behalf so that my concerns could be put across in a clear and professional manner. After talking with the advocate and going through the letter I realized that this lady is most definitely in the right profession. She was kind, patient, sympathetic and said some very nice things about myself which touched me. She also spoke to the ward manager so that he would be aware of how I felt about a review that was to take place that afternoon. People like this are a credit to their profession and if another problem arises in the future I wouldn't hesitate to contact Eleanor and would look forward to such a meeting.
"A lovely person"
