The majority of nurses on ward 24 are over stretched and not committed to patient care at all, this is a ward for the elderly who are often left unattended for long periods of time, since a member of my family has been in the past few weeks the meals have deteriorated and more than often they are given no choice as to what they want for meals only given what is there, there is no drinks after tea at times and the attitude when asked for them or for food to be heated up etc is often frowned upon. The patients especially need care, some have very few visitors and rely on other patients visitors to hand out water and get a nurse, this is totally unacceptable. I am shocked at the NHS system it has become and I just hope I do not have to encounter a stay in either North Tyneside or Cramlington hospital. I could write a book of things that are wrong but I don't suppose anything ever really comes of these complaints - that is until one of the relevant people in charge have there loved ones in and experience it themselves!
