My partner and I found all the midwives, doctors, and post-natal care to be fantastic. Everyone we came into contact with contributed to making a complicated pregnancy go as well as we could have hoped. After a few challenges with getting a room and a bit of a wait in triage as she became more dilated, we were given a fantastic room in the delivery suite with a hydropool. This was perfect for us as the birth centre was not an option because her blood pressure was borderline. After lots of gas and air in the pool, she became fully dilated, but the baby became distressed, turned laterally and did a poo. At this point the doctors were called and the room became full of highly competent people who whisked her away for an epidural, which went amazingly well, followed by delivery by forceps, which to my relief was carried out expertly. I was involved in decisions as far as possible and present at all times apart from the epidural. Post-natal care was excellent and we were very happy with the private room with ensuite that we paid for (we would recommend doing this).
"Great experience for first pregnancy"
