"Admitted to trauma for fractured ankle"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

Was admitted on a Sunday and not discharged until a week on the Tuesday (9days). During this time the sister, nurses, care assistants and catering staff were exceptional. However

I was nil by mouth for 5 days, 4 of these days the operation was cancelled in the afternoon. It was very distressing.

I saw doctors etc every day for a fleeting time to explain. I eventually saw my consultant on the Wed who told me op tomorrow, cancelled.

Op on Friday and saw consultant on Sunday who indicated I could go, did get discharged till Tuesday. Not happy. Other patients with similar injuries with different consultants were in and out in 4 days.

they have wifi there are no tv's, radio etc.

Just wifi is no good for older people without these gadgets.

Dear Lesley

thank you for taking the time to offer us this feedback. I am concerned to hear of the cancellations you experienced. Not good when you are unable to eat and drink for that period of time. Please accept my apologies for this.

Thank you also for the feedback about the lack of entertainment systems. I will speak with my colleagues in the Estates and Facilities Dept as you are right; not everyone has devices to use.

I do hope you are recovering well.

Best regards

Sally
