"Understaffed maternity unit"

About: Lister Hospital

My wife is in the course of spending three weeks in the maternity unit. The building is nice and new, the midwives (with the exceptional of one) have been fantastic. But they are understaffed and the access to doctors and consultants is appalling. We have consistently been given unfulfilled promises and suffered unnecessary delays. Emotionally distressing and a terrible start to what is meant to be a time of joy.

I dont know how other hospitals compare, but I would advise to think carefully about options and ask for details on staffing levels before committing to this place for such an important event.

We're really sorry that you and your wife are experiencing these problems at what must be a worrying time for you both.

We've shared your comments with our senior maternity team colleagues, but if you would like them through your concerns directly then we can put you in touch if you just email us at generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net as we know that they would welcome understanding what they can do to help put things right for you both.
