"Brushed off as feeling blue"

Recently I was admitted to hospital for the second time in two months regarding suicidal thoughts/attempts.
For 5 years I have been meeting people and going to consultations to try and get to the bottom of these "issues". However, what I find with every health professional or service I attend they just brush it off as feeling "blue" or "down" and repetitively hand me the same leaflet.
What I want to know is, how long till the NHS take mental illness as a serious problem? When I'm hospitalised attached to life support? When my mother is mourning the loss of her daughter?
According to my findings, depression and suicide is an issue rapidly increasing especially amongst my age category- however, referring to my experiences, that isn't represented in the support or training health professionals.
I don't know what the procedure is suppose to be, but surely it isn't brushing someone off who has been admitted for attempting suicide as "just down. " you wouldn't tell someone with a broken leg to "walk, it'll be okay. "
