Mill lodge was not as bad as what people say..
Yes sometimes the staff were very annoying, and some of the policies were stupid, but after all it is an inpatient unit. Relfective leave was to ensure you didn't trigger other patients and all of the desicion that were made were thought through considering everyone!
Mill lodge wasn't a great experience because it was am inpatient unit; but I'm sure everyone will agree what we all made lots of friends and we all tried to enjoy ourselves..
Some of the staff were lovely.. They really made an effort, some didn't. The higher ranking staff were the ones that didn't make much of an effort, the HCA's and some nurses were the ones that were there to comfort you.
I think overall it was ok, the food could be better as on a meal plan, it wasn't very nice when you were trying to gain weight. I also think that the security of the unit needs to be better. There was 1 bad check in my whole 3 month stay.. I think this needs to improve.
However the school was helpful if you were studying and the way we all made friends and helped each other was great. I think friendships in the unit needs to be encouraged.. I still speak to most of my friends from my stay, and we all help each other in recovery and get us though the bad days.
I also think that the unit needs to be less clinical.. I know t is a hospital, but there was no carpet, no wallpaper and it just made the hospital, seem like a hospital rather than a place to fight off your demons.
But anyway Thank you for my treatment, I am now In full recovery and actually working with children with autism, mutism and mental illnesses..
