I was an emergency admission to Ward 12 of Bradford Royal Infirmary with severe hip pain, total loss of control of the hip; and, incidentally and unrelated to this admission, a broken ankle. For three days I rarely received the dosage of painkillers prescribed prior to admission for severe osteoarthritis and the broken ankle - yet I was in more pain, not less. the Staff i came into contact with refused to listen to what I told them, refused to read the appropriate prescribing information on the medications (which I provided), locked my medicines away because they said that I wasn't allowed to have access to them, refused to contact my GP or specialist for confirmation; and when I contacted my GP myself, they refused to accept the faxed statement! Nothing was done, except by one person, who managed to correct my records on her own initiative, but even after this staff failed to supply painkilling medicines in a timely manner as laid out in the prescription.
Staff are generally rude, disrespectful and neglectful of patients. And the cleaners eavesdrop on private patient consultations in full view of other patients and staff.
There is something seriously rotten going on in this ward - I will never set foot in this hospital again for treatment, despite the latter few days in Ward 28 being quite the opposite experience with excellent staff and first class medical care of myself and other patients. I have neither trust nor confidence in this hospital and will be taking this complaint further. This experience was a disgrace to the NHS.
