The best breast unit and the breast surgeon you could ask for

In August 2012 I was diagnosed with severe breast cancer at Boston Breast Unit. Mr Abdel-Rahman was the lead consultant breast surgeon throughout my treatment. I gave him many problems to deal with including infections whilst having my chemotherapy treatment and stays in Pilgrim Hospital to treat them. He would come to visit me every day to see how I was getting on. He performed my operation and it was a good thing that he did as I was so scared on the day. He spoke to me to reassure me and I was on the operating table in a couple of minutes to start getting my life back on track. Mr Abdel-Rahman continued to look after me extremely well coming in to see every day. I went in January 2013 for my four week check-up. I have been seen by other doctors but he has always been the best – he is easy to talk to and ask questions of (I asked many unfortunately for him).

Mr Abdel-Rahman has seen me for all the rest of my appointments I have had since then as he is the only person that I would trust to look after me. I am currently waiting for reconstruction surgery. He has always been professional, caring, courteous and polite at every visit. I have always been treated with compassion and respect by him. I have also spoken to some other patients that he has looked after and they have the same opinion as I do of him – he is the best surgeon ever to look after you. He has a good sense of humour as well which really helped to cheer me up when I was very down due to my chemotherapy treatment not working.

As a patient of Mr Abdel-Rahman I have always trusted him explicitly. I, and many other patients, want him to be able to walk through the hospital with his head held high and proud and to be able to continue his excellent work with the patients at Breast Unit in Boston. We would not want to see anyone else.
