I was admitted at 11.15am for a prostate biopsy due between 1pm & 5.30pm. The sister came to see me immediately and asked me all the relevant questions concerning my health they then took my blood pressure which was sky high probably caused by the fear of what was to come, they were very reassuring & gave me time to relax & came back 1hr later to try again but it was slightly lower but not enough I was then left as long as possible for a further check, in the meantime I had visits from two Consultants and various other members of the team who I didn't know, everybody was so kind & helpful.
I went into surgery at 4.30pm. Once in there I was asked all the same questions by 4 more different staff & again everyone was so pleasant & reassuring. They then checked my blood pressure 4 more times until they were happy with it. The Anaesthetist did their thing & I didn't know a thing until I woke up in the recovery ward
Where once again I was regularly checked until I was ready to go back to the ward where I was again checked & double checked until I was fit enough to go home.
I can't praise your staff enough, I haven't had much hospital experience but if I have to & if I had a choice
King George's would be it.
Thankyou for everything you did & the kindness &
understanding your staff gave me.
Yours sincerely
Barry Taylor
