"Simply outstanding"

I have been under the care of the Royal Marsden for 3 years since transferring from my local hospital (awful) for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Every department make your time spent at hospital more pleasant. Receptionists are extremely helpful. Nurses are so compassionate and dedicated. Doctors are compassionate, understanding and are expert at what they do.

I have a dedicated myeloma nurse who is always at the end of the phone when I need. When my own GP surgery or A&E are not there for me, the nurse and their team are always there. On Saturday I spent the entire day at my local A&E. I would not agree to be admitted as the quality of the decisions and treatments seemed distinctly lacking. On Sunday the Royal Marsden saw me as an emergency despite having no A&E. I was so impressed by the doctor who did absolutely everything humanly possible to ease my discomfort and come up with a diagnosis. The nurse on Bud Flannagan West ward was amazing also...so compassionate to my family and myself. The doctor insisted on following me up in clinic two days later and subsequently has spent much time referring me onto another hospital that can deal with my new problem. Their efforts are way over and above what I have ever encountered before.
