"Great care"

About: St Richard's Hospital

I was admitted on the 8/6/16 for a total knee replacement, on Selsey

Ward and had my operation later that day. The staff in the operating room were kind as i was worried about the spinal anesthetic and sedation (which was alright )

All the staff on the ward from the nurses,health care assistants, ot ,physio, housekeeping and catering were all very good and chatty.The food was also good ,not that i had much of and appetite . The only problem i had ,was when my surgeon came round during visiting time and lectured me about my weight ! I felt this was not the time or place to do this . He does this in clinic ,but at least that is private !!

I was glad i took the time and went to the joint school on my pre admission appointment,as this was a great help . I would advise anyone having this surgery to take the time to do this.

True to their word the Enhanced Recovery Nurse rang me at home 2 days after my discharge to find out how my stay was and were there any problems in hospital and also at home.

Thank you for your post and we are pleased that all went well when you came in for your operation.

We will share your message with all the staff you mention and they will be delighted to read your comments.

As this site is anonymous we cannot take up your point about the surgeon's comments but will forward this to the clinical lead in orthopaedics.

If you could give us some more detail we would like to share this point with the individual involved and therefore if you would ring our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 01243 831822 we can take some details from you so that we can follow this up in confidence.
