"Termination after 13 weeks. Put to sleep"

About: Bpas (merseyside Clinic)

Today I visited the Liverpool BPAS clinic.

After reading many horror stories on the Internet and some rather comforting ones I was unsure what to expect and turned up so nervous and frightened to what I was about to encounter.

I was receiving the vacuum termination at 13 weeks pregnancy. I had been told different things and read different things.

I had to wait two hours before going into surgery to take the suitable tablets and for them to kick in. During this two hours I had worked myself up into a right state and when I was called I couldn't stop myself crying. The nurse was unbelievable comforting. Held my hand hugged me. Made me laugh and made me feel so at ease. I couldn't be more thankful. I was shortly called in and put to sleep. Half an hour later I woke up in absolutely no pain what so ever. A bit of blood but nothing to be alarmed about. I was in a room with a number of other women and I have read that it's like a conveyor belt and it is in terms of timing but the staff are so lovely and made every individual feel looked after. I got home an hour after my operation. My bleeding has gone right down - no pain still. It couldn't have been better in those awful circumstances. I hope whoever is reading this eases there mind a bit as I had read some awful things online and it couldn't have been further from the truth. The only thing I would recommend is to bring a night dress I brought pyjamas and they will probably get dirty during the operation so nothing you'd spend money on. And come in your comfiest clothes as there is a lot of waiting around before the operation and maybe a book or ipad as some form of entertainment to take your mind of things. Thankyou to all the lovely staff
