"My son who was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome"

About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital

(as a carer),

My son and me went on holiday to Denmark when he was 6 years old, when he first became ill. 2 weeks later when we returned to Aberdeen, we were referred by our gp straight to Aberdeen, to mr Oxlay And the renal nurse Lynn's care, and they have both been so fantastic, always been there for us, even if admitted when mr Oxlay is on holiday or it's been the weekend, he always phones up the ward were admitted to ensure we are looked after the way he wants, as if he is there looking after my son him self and it's his own child! ! They understand the frustration and sadness we as parents experience when your child becomes chronically ill. Can't thank them enough for the care we have had in the last 3 years, 5 star care in a 5 star establishment

Dear Vikingqueen

I am so sorry to hear about your son’s illness. It must be very hard for you both. Our staff will be gladdened to hear that they are making a difference. It sounds as if the care is very person-centred an also very personal. This is how we hope it is for all our patients.

The way you describe your son’s care shows others that NHS Grampian staff really do care. The staff you name will be honoured to be mentioned in this way. We are proud to serve the children of Grampian.

Many thanks again for your kind words and for sharing your story.
