"Waited 6 hours only to have surgery cancelled!"

About: Cheltenham General Hospital

We were completely let down by the hospital today and not for the first time. My son has been waiting since December last year for his surgery, having been postponed once in April he finally had a date for today.

We arrived at 7.30am and waited only to then be told at 1.15pm that his surgery was being cancelled! He was devastated he is a young man who has waited a long time for this and has had his life on hold having lost his job due to the wait. He was told he will have to wait another month and has been given a date when I will not be here to support him.

The NHS is suppose to be the envy of the world but today all I saw was disorganised and illogical thinking, if he had been first on the list there would have been no need to find a bed as he could have been sent home as was the plan.of course the sister telling him said they were sorry but the ramifications do not affect them. Exceptionally disappointed and appalled by the service or lack of it!
