"Eye care"

About: Royal Gwent Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I suffer from Glaucoma and Cataracts. in January I had an appointment in Newbridge for a check up. Although I travel from Cwmbran and 85 years old my Nephew took me. The Ophthalmologist stated that I had a severe deterioration on one eye that he could not explain and that an urgent appointment would be made at the Gwent. The letter was sent by the optician requesting the urgent appointment after my visit to him. Well, here we are 6 months down the line with no contact. Despite trying to contact the department no one will pick up the phone to discuss my situation. My nephew has had no joy either. My doctor has asked him to get in touch but he has not had any luck.

Is this typical of the NHS at the Royal Gwent or am I unlucky?

My Nephew typed this on my behalf

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you have been having with your glaucoma and cataracts. Do you have a contact telephone number so I can speak to you or your nephew and get some more information so we can work out the best way forward?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes,
