"Amazing Treatment"

About: Nuffield Health, Brentwood Hospital

After being on the waiting list for 8 months with an NHS hospital they asked if I would be prepared to have my total hip replacement undertaken at the Nuffield.

I said yes immediately as I was in chronic pain and practically immobile at this point.

My appointment with the surgeon took place within 2 weeks and they gave me a date for admission straight away.

My pre-op assessment took place 5 days before admission and the staff were highly efficient and extremely thorough.

On admission/operation day I was shown to a very nice private room with en-suite.

I was seen be various staff who informed me what was to happen.

I was put at ease by the friendly and helpful staff who saw me.

My daughter was with me and stayed during my operation and for the remainder of the day.

My hip replacement op went very well and the level of care shown post op was very comforting.

I was in the Nuffield for 5 days whilst getting on my feet again with the help of their in-house physiotherapists.

During that time I can honestly say that every member of staff, from the surgeon to the daily cleaners, were highly professional, friendly, efficient and helpful in any way they could be.

I have to say I was amazed at the level of care given.

The hospital is very clean and tidy and the food choice every day was very good (and delicious).

It was a bit like being in a hotel.

On discharge I was given the equipment needed such as a raised toilet seat, grabber, long shoe horn and sock aid.

I was also given an exercise regime to follow by the physios.

I have since had 2 further physio appointments where I have been given further exercises to help aid my recovery.

My op was undertaken 6 weeks ago and already I feel like a new woman.

To be out of the extreme pain I suffered is fantastic.

I cannot thank all the staff at the Nuffield enough for their care and professionalism.

I would highly recommend this hospital, even for NHS patients who might not necessarily know they could choose to have work done there.

I do have arthritis in my other hip and some time in the future may need that one replacing too.

I will definitely ask my GP to refer me to the Nuffield, and the same consultant (who by the way did say to me on my follow-up that they would be happy to do it for me). Great place, brilliant staff, amazing care.
