I recently went to A. E at St. Mary's because of a sharp pain in my chest. I had heart surgery last autumn so it seemed sensible to seek advice.
All the staff were attentive and polite. I was seen by the triage nurse fairly quickly and within a relatively short time she ran an ECG. This seemed ok but she arranged for a doctor to confirm things were satisfactory. This took some time. I was finally seen and reassured by a doctor from the night shift around three hours after I had arrived at hospital who apologised for the delay. Almost the worst thing was that I could hear a patient nearby apparently having a relatively superficial wound dressed. I with my heart query was left waiting an uncomfortably long time. Which seemed a bit odd.
Otherwise well done and thank you to all staff concerned.
