What I liked

I cannot speak more highly of the attitude and efficiency of the staff on Ward 8 ( the Emergency Assessment Unit ) where my wife was processed recently

What could be improved

Pedestrian access to all departments is extremely difficult - if not hazardous. If arriving by bus there are no footpaths to speak of. The car parking situation is ridiculous - on entering the western (?) car park it is common to find no spaces at normal visiting times yet one has to activate a barrier with a cancelled pay-by-foot card to get out. - Try that in heavy rain !

N.B. - Leaving aside the issue of car parking charges for staff and visitors, the charges quoted on this website are well out of date.

We’re pleased your wife was well looked after when she was a patient on the emergency assessment unit at the University Hospital of Hartlepool recently. Our staff work hard to make sure all patients are treated quickly and with care and compassion, and we’re glad this was your experience. We are sorry you felt unhappy about pedestrian access. We will have a look at this and see if anything can be done to improve it. Thank you for also pointing out that the car park charges on our website are out of date.
