"My sister's treatment from cancer doctor"

About: The Royal Marsden Hospital (London) / Medical oncology

(as a parent/guardian),

My sister is a brittle diabetic and has breast cancer, when she told the docter the medication she was prescribed was having a very bad affect on her diabetes, her sugar over 25 all the time can't get it down, she has lost too much weight and high sugar prevents her eating properly, the doctor replied said that my sister has cancer and that's what the medication was prescribed for.

I now have persuaded my sister to speak to her G. P. for advice.

Sometimes you have more than one illness and all things have to be considered. She has had brittle diabetes for 50 years and has remained in good health with strict control, as she said cancer will kill you slowly, she lives alone and could go into a coma quickly and die. The doctor clearly didn't like to hear the medication was causing problems and offered no alternative. Not a very caring attitude for a doctor.
