"Not impressed"

About: Oaklands Hospital

I chose this hospital as I thought with it being private the service and standards would be higher than NHS sites but I was wrong.

The booking system was poor and 5 appointments were offered by post and rejected before a suitable date was found (they never called me back to rearrange, just sent other dates?).

I could then only get an appointment time 24th before which happened to be inconvenient.

On arrival reception was polite, efficient and friendly.

I was in for an endoscopy which I think can be make people feel embarrassed and uncomfortable.

The prep staff were not friendly whatsoever, had no manners, did not reassure or make me feel welcome.

The level of service and professionalism was extremely poor.

The room I was given was dirty and the bed seemed to have remnants of the previous patients on the bed.

The doors are just part frosted glass sliding doors so there was very little privacy for getting undressed.

I had to leave my belongings in this room to go to theatre and it was not secured in any way.

Only one of the theatre staff seemed to have any person skills by making conversation and taking through process to give reassurance.

The consultant was great and seemed very thorough and friendly.

Recovery and Check out was with ward staff / nurses again which was unfriendly, unprofessional and slow.

I did not rate the staff or cleanliness of this hospital and would not recommend.

I felt uncomfortable and uneasy during the majority of my visit and felt dissappointed by the whole experience.
