Preparation for the procedure was explained in an informative pack sent to me with the Moviprep Medication well in advance of the procedure.
The Colonoscopy Dept was on an external site to the Hospital and parking was easy and free. I had a slightly anxious time trying to access the building because the usual entrance was blocked by workmen. The actual entrance that I had to use was signposted for another organisation which was misleading but one of the workmen ushered me in.
Upon arrival on the first floor I was greeted by a charming person who showed me to the waiting room.
I was taken through very promptly by a nurse who went through my paperwork. I was then invited to go into a changing room to put on a gown and some extremely stylish modesty pants.
When I went into theatre I had the extremely kind assistance of two nurses and a very compassionate surgeon. Everything was explained to me and the procedure took place. They were a very friendly team.
My pain/discomfort was controlled by the Entonox gas and air pain relief and by the reassuring encouragement of the nurse at the head end. I was able to watch my procedure on a screen and ask questions if I wished.
Returning to the recovery room,
I was given a cup of tea and biscuits (which was lovely because I hadn't eaten for 28 hours!). The surgeon came to see me immediately to tell me the outcome of my investigation and I was given a copy of my results for my records.
A lovely nurse removed my cannula and made sure that I was OK before being released into the care of my daughter.
