"The nice new building. The reception ..."

About: St Mary's Hospital (Manchester)

(as the patient),

What I liked The nice new building. The reception desk staff in the outpatient's department were extremely nice, friendly and helpful. What could be improved? This refers to the outpatient's unit for a gynaecological procedure: - Waiting time:was seen over 1 and a half hours later than my appointment time and no apologies were made. - Manner: Doctor kept saying they were far too busy and suggested I didn't really need the procedure I was booked in for - until she actually looked herself and realised I most certainly did. Made me feel like it was far too inconvenient and that my health didn't really matter. - Care of patients: no one really asked how I was feeling throughout the duration of my procedure - is was like I wasn't even there until I had to let them know I felt like I was about to faint and/or throw up and desperately needed some water. Anything else? The worst thing was that the doctor seemed to have no idea what she was doing. She had to ask the nurse who made suggestions but during the middle of my invasive procedure I had to contend with the two of them discussing whether or not the doctor should press a certain button, both as unsure as each other. As it turns out I was put though all that pain and discomfort for nothing as it didn't work (due to the fact they didn't press the button), not to mention the anxiety I felt at being left in seemingly incapable hands. Unbelievable.
