Was ref. to The Priory via NHS Choices having being told that this facility had the shortest wait times. Unfortunately what wasn't made clear was that after initial consultation (which was speedy and efficient), the appointments thereafter are only offered on monthly Saturdays. In July and August the only appointments fall in the same week which unfortunately clashes with a long standing one week trip abroad for a wedding. There were no other Saturdays outside of this one week throughout the whole of July or August and as such I need to wait until the next one in September which falls just within the legal 18 week waiting time and for which I am still awaiting written confirmation.
This is disappointing as had the information been more transparent at the start this would have led me to go elsewhere. Secondly when monthly appointments fall within one week as described above, this further limits the already very limited choices. As a young person with a condition impacting on all aspects of work and daily living, awaiting a very simple but potentially life changing procedure, this is really disappointing, particularly in the knowledge that other providers could have offered alternative appointments for surgery. However, the system does not enable a change of providers even in circumstances where initial information from and about the provider lacked the detail to make an informed choice.
