I was admitted to York Hospital after I went into A&E with a urine retention.
I was treated in A&E very quickly indeed and cannot fault the level of attention recieved while there and then in ward 14 by the staff on duty. I was seen the next day by Mr. Stower and his team, he showed concern that at my age (40) I had held on to so much urine and decided that I needed to have various tests done.
I was due to go to Warwick the next day for a short break holiday with my fiance as part of a wedding present for our forth coming marriage. I had to let the people who booked the trip for us know that we could not make it. Due to the time scale they were unable to get a refund on the trip.
On day two in the hospital (the day I was due to go away) I was visited at lunch time by one of Mr. Stowers team who had said that the MRI scan I had had showed no concerns and that I could go home and have the rest of the tests done as an out patient.
i asked why I was told that i needed to be kept in when I had already told them of the trip and was told the tests were required to be on safe side.
He recalled my previous conversation with Mr. Stower and said cannot you not re book your trip.
I appreciate that bed space is important but do not feel happy that by one person I am told you need to be in and then told go home. It is more annoying when this has cost money to friends.
At present I am waiting an outpatient appointment and still have trouble with the waterworks but must admit being a little anxious about trying to get matter resolved as I feel I dont want to come across as a moaner or timewaster.
