On Saturday 18th June our 86 year friend was the by ambulance at 10am with a fractured neck of femur.
in AE he was greated and admitted by a staff nurse who introduced themselves and gave clear explanations of what was happening. Our friend has alhziemers and obviously was in shock. Action was taken promptly to give him fluids and pain relief.
He was assessed by a falls nurse and the nurse gave him a lot of time and with my input the nurse was abe to gain the full of our friend and what care he might need.
he was then seen by a nurse consultant who thought he had broken his hip and an xray was ordered.
On return from the X ray they looked at this and yes broken.
They called the on call orthopaedic team who had him admitted to the ward. We were on the ward by 2.30pm and our friend has had surgery today.
I work in the nhs and after all the bad things we hear, I would like to express our thanks to all the staff in a nd e on Saturday.
They provided a very high standard of care and I was extremely impressed as so was our friend. Keep up the good work
