"Avoid at all costs!!"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

I went to the A&E department with a lump that turned out to be an abscess, I was seen relatively quickly, spoken to with empathy and had a consultation with the surgery department within four hours. They sent me home for the night, ready for the operation the next day. Now this is where everything went to hell. The nurse who inserted my IV put it in wrong, damaging one of my veins, the doctor assessing me didn't know my name (referring to me as another patient) and refused to believe me when I assured them it wasn't my name and that wasn't my surgery (only listened when a nurse intervened). After having my surgery the nurse refused to take me to the toilet, after begging the nurse finally gave in. I needed my dressings removed to go to the toilet and the nurse didn't put them back on afterwards, leaving me bleeding and wet in bed. I was told a doctor would be along to see me within the hour, 8 hours later I still wasn't seen. Finally a doctor saw me 10 minutes before being discharged but didn't look at the surgical wound and just asked about my general well being, I explained that i was in pain and was told this was normal. They then sent me home with a 5 inch open wound in my buttock, the packing hanging out, no bandages and no painkillers. I was in a tremendous amount of pain. When I had to go back the next day to see an urgent care nurse to get the packing changed, the nurse was mortified that this had happened at the hospital. I had to get the packing changed with no painkillers, this took 45 excruciating minutes. The walls of my room still had dried blood that hadn't been cleaned. Avoid at all costs.
