I was admitted to AMH to be induced after failing to progress. During my four day stay in Westburn, Labour and Summerfield ward I received exceptionally good care from the staff on the ward.
In particular I would like to commend the following staff members
-Westburn ward staff nurse Emma stayed 3 hours late to be able to provide essential care to patients, despite her being on her 6th (! ) consecutive 12 hour shift. Even though she must have been tired she was delightful and professional.
- In Labour ward my midwives Shirley and Carla helped me through the most difficult thing I have done and kept me and my husband calm throughout all the complications that arose. Their encouragement, friendly chatter and laughter kept me going while their incredible professional skills kept me and my baby safe.
-The theatre staff (who's names I do not remember ) including the consultant and reg Sarah x2! and the lovely South African anesthetist reg. who worked efficiently and effectively to deliver my son safely . They took the time in the wee hours in the morning to talk to me to keep me calm and distract me from the doom scenarios in my head.
-The Summerfield ward nursery nurse Julie, who does her job with such passion and care for her 'little chicks', Claire who took the time in the middle of her night shift to help me to breastfeed and the nurse (her name escapes me! ) who ensured I was able to be discharged with short notice.
This list is not exhaustive, and I would like to extend my thanks to all the staff at AMH that work tirelessly, under significant staff shortages, finite resources and circumstantial pressures. I observed compassion, passion for their jobs and professional excellence! Your staff is a real asset to NHS Grampian.
