"My faith has been restored"

Back in 2014 I gave birth to my first son,, I had been in and out of the triage department at wishaw General for 5 days up to that point with contractions and had to get advice a few times throughout that week. Though on the day my son was born things were very different, it was around 10am on the Saturday morning I was on a trace machine after having had an epidural and everything up to that point happened with ease and I was more than happy with the midwifes on staff at the time. When it came time to have my son it happened very fast, firstly my sons heart beat was lost and the midwife didn't explain what had happened to me so my partner and I were left to just watch what was happening, the midwife proceeded to push a buzzer and around 12 people piled into the room and I was told it was time to give birth, the doctor told me to push while pushing on my abdomen after performing an episiotomy (which later became infected very badly due to no follow up exams on the stitches) my son was then required to have forceps to deliver him and then he got taken away as he wasn't breathing. 6 weeks later I was informed that there was a piece of resuscitation equipment missing which resulted in my new born son having to wait for someone to go get it and he then had to be put on antibiotics and admitted to the NICU, all of this information was related to me at my 6 week check up at the GP, and not by any of the hospital staff which I find completely unacceptable.

I am now pregnant with my second son and I was in the maternity triage department of wishaw General recently and was looked after by Ann Marie  and a student midwife named Alexis, who listened to my concerns about giving birth as I was so anxious after the horrific experience I had with my first labour, they informed me I should speak to my consultant, who I had no contact with in either of my pregnancies, and I asked her about that process (Ann marie) and she was very caring and compassionate about the whole situation and she organised an appointment with my midwife and consulant. She done this very quickly without having to be asked and it made me feel like someone genuinely cared about the fact no one had offered me any support throughout this entire pregnancy with regards to my anxiety regarding labour and she has now put me on the right path to get the support I need. I would like to express my sincere thank you, she has given me the proper care and my faith in the wishaw general staff has been restored.
