What I liked
Patient in Kingsmoor Ward for laparotomy and bowel resection for 12 days in Feb 2010. Very professional and caring support from all staff who dealt with me - surgeon, consultants, nurses and others. Plenty of information and advice given to me about my recovery from surgery. Full and detailed information (discharge and pathology report) given to me personally in writing and verbally on discharge. Cannot thank the staff enough for an A1 service - my first big encounter with the NHS!
What could be improved
My only criticism would be that at times it was very clear that the staffing levels on the ward seemed to be "cut to the bone". Nurses particularly were very hard pressed with many patients with high levels of need to deal with.
Anything else?
Again, I would like to thank everyone from ny GP surgery who acted swiftly to get bloods and X-ray for initial diagnosis, all at the hospital as mentioned above and practice/district nurses who have provided excellent after care now I am at home.
