I am currently having chemotherapy for breast cancer and I am having this treatment privately due to having insurance for this.
today I had worrying and unusual symptoms and contacted the hospItal that I am getting treatment but they have no out of hours service.
I called the nhs cancer helpline and spoke with a lovely guy who took lots of information from. me contact Wishaw general to discuss and explained they would prefer to see me.
I attended a very busy accident and emergency and the receptionist was lovely and I was put into a side room by the lovely nurse fiona with my family member. she explained fully what would happen and possible outcomes. I was duly seen by a lovely Doctor and they both arranged bloods etc for diagnosis. although clearly run off their feet they kept me updated and as soon as my results came back informed me of the results and what they were giving me to help me. I am now home with anti biotics.
I can genuinely say the service was beyond fantastic, even in an extremely busy department I was made to feel like I was the only patient there and had their full attention, they didn't rush and I am truly thankful for the job the did today.
I feel in media etc good praise is never given enough and the medical staff fiona and the lovely Doctor (I can't recall her name) truly do a credit to the nhs.
"I was made to feel like I was the only patient there"
