"Elective Surgery and readmission with complication"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

Elective umbilical hernia repair went well unfortunately got a wound infection and needed readmission for antibiotics. The readmission for treatment was easy and the day surgery pathway excellent.  The nursing staff, surgeon and the anaesthetist were great and they explained everything well. I found them to be caring, supportive and compassionate. The facilities were clean and food was excellent.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Troon44,

Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience. I am sure it will be very well received by the teams. While it is a shame you had to come back in because of the infection, it is great to hear that it all went so well when you returned.

I hope you are now fully recovered.

Best wishes,

Eunice
