"Unhelpful & Poor Radiolgy Unit"

About: Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead)

(as the patient),

I attended Minor Injuries (MI) in early May after a fall in my garden the previous day. Obviously very busy as a Bank Holiday and services like Radiology were shutting early. After an early registration I then had to wait 4 hrs approx before being seen to be told I needed an X ray and they are shut so we will have to call some one in (Not rocket science that I could have gone for the X ray earlier whilst waiting to be seen. ). Long story short, no fracture or break if still hurts in 10 days we will arrange scan after contacting you.

No follow up so I chased and eventually got scan performed three weeks later (delay caused I couldnt make 1 appt and Radioolgy totally unhelpful on all calls made), 2 days later MI reported no fractures or break use normally. Any further problems go to GP.

GP referred me in early June saw Mr Pickford (Private) who had reviewed scan and found 3 fractures to scaphoid and I am now in plaster for a month impacting Hols and other arrangements, 5 weeks after it should have been dealt with. Really not good enough.

Dear Toastmaster,

QVH is concerned to read of your experience following your recent attendance to our MIU and X-ray Department. It would be important to be able to understand what happened to you and to investigate the significant issues that you have reported. This is not the experience that we aim to provide.

Please would you be so kind as to contact me at pals@qvh.nhs.uk and provide me with you name, d.o.b etc so that I may progress this.

I look forward to hearing from you and apologise for the distressing experience that you have reported.

Kind regards

Nicolle Ferguson
