"Discharge at Kings Mill Hospital"

About: King's Mill Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I have had to stay twice in the last 4 days at Kingsmill hospital on Ward 12.

The care has been good however the discharge process is an absolute disgrace.

The first time on the Thursday morning I was advised that I could go home early in the morning. Instead I wasn't discharged until after 1800 hours.

Again today, the consultant advised I could go at 9.30, when I spoke to staff an hour later to remove my cannula and remove a plaster on a wound, no-one was available. I again asked an hour later and the same nurse sad used the prescriptions had not even been written let alone going downstairs. I again requested the cannula taken out and a plaster replaced on a wound she said she was too busy and I wasn't going anywhere yet! ! Or for some time- looks like I'm going to be here all day waiting again to be discharged!

Staff did manage to get me some pain relief but didnt haven time to do anything else!

This is a joke when the hospital wants the beds but don't have the time to release or get prescriptions!

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your email.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry to hear that the discharge process was not to the high standards we expect, which is so disappointing.

We would welcome an opportunity to learn from your recent experience and understand how we can improve our services. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact the Patient Experience Team on 01623 62222 or email pet@sfh-tr.nhs.uk
