"Staff Excellent at Hairmyres A+E Dept"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My Father was admitted to A&E Dept at Hairmyres at beginning of May 2016. The Rapid Response Unit, The Ambulance Service and all the staff at Hairmyres were excellent. All were sensitive to both my Fathers and my own needs.

They were all very kind to my Father, kept us fully informed about what was happening and were kind in offering us tea & biscuits, as we spent over 11hrs in A&E before a bed became available. The hospital was extremely busy that night/day.

We were also chuffed that a long-term family friend, Norman, spotted my Fathers name and made an effort to come and speak to both of us. My Father was very pleased and reassured by this. I also knew my Father was in excellent hands as Norman is a very kind and capable person. Both my Father and I are glad to have this opportunity to be able to thank Norman, and all the staff concerned with his admission. Thank you.

Dear Crow

I was really pleased to read about your father’s experience when he was admitted to Hairmyres Hospital. Whilst it is always good to receive positive feedback, what was especially nice to read was that all of the staff involved in his case were sensitive to his needs and your needs. It really highlights the benefits of following a person-centred approach to patient care.

I do hope that you father is continuing to recover well and please pass on my best wishes to him.

Take care

Martin.

Update posted by Crow (a relative)

I am so grateful to "Patient Opinion" for raising my compliments to both the A&E Dept (Hairmyres) and The Scottish Ambulance Dept. I would like to thank both Lise and Martin for acknowledging this feedback and for taking the time to respond with such kind words. I will certainly pass on these comments to my Father who is still doing well. It was a particularly busy night for both of these frontline services and we really appreciate all the help and sensitive support given to us. It really does make the world of difference at a quite worrying time for both my Father (who has dementia) and myself (also unwell). Thank you both - and your staff - for a job very well done.
