"Maternity experience"

About: Hillingdon Hospital

I required an induction following a concern on the high volume of water in my womb. On Katherine Ward the midwives were fantastic. Unfortunately the toilets were filthy and smelly. It was a weekend and throughout my stay on Alexandra and Katherine Ward I did not witness a cleaner attend to the toilet facility. The toilets had blood and other bodily functions. One of the Dr during the explanation of my delivery options petrified me saying I would need a casearean and I had no choice. Instead of presenting me with all the scenarios. Fortunately my fears were allayed by my brilliant midwife who explained it in a much better way and reassured me that my wishes for natural delivery would be respected unless there was a emergency. On the Labour suite which was lovely, I had a fantastic midwife and Dr and they supported me to have the natural and without pain relief birth that I wanted. Giving me the space but care and encouragement I needed.

Back onto the ward the toilets posed a real hazard due to lack of cleaning. The catering staff were kind too.
