"Being a patient in a respiratory ward"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Respiratory Medicine (Ward 7)

(as the patient),

While I was a patient in ward 7 wishaw general hospital I received the up most care from the staff.

I was under the care of Dr Dagg and his doctors and he explained all the care he was going to give me, in a way I could understand. All the staff from the students, clinical support workers and qualified staff they treated me with respect, excellent care and attention, all my needs were met.

The domestic staff had a dedicated regime to their cleaning, Caroline always had a smile and pleasant nature. Lisa Marie always left me a cup of tea even though I was sleeping to which I really appreciated. The porters when taking to and from wards always spoke to you in a pleasant manner.

The only concern I had was that on the night shift there was not enough staff which could be detrimental to the staff and to the patients.

Dear oddbod

Thank you very much for getting in touch and for your comments in relation to the care you received whilst an inpatient here at Wishaw General Hospital, and indeed at such a worrying time for you. I hope that you are recovering well and your health continues to improve.

Your positive comments are very welcome and I will ensure they are fed back to the staff in Ward 7 who work so hard in ensuring the care we deliver to patients is of a high standard. I have no doubt they will be delighted for the feedback.

I note your comment on the staffing levels on night duty in the ward and would like to reassure you that staffing levels are reviewed on a daily basis to ensure appropriate support is in place for patients in the ward as well as the staff.

Thank you once again and best wishes

Regards

Faith
