"Fabulous support!"

I gave birth to my son at the Horton Hospital. I received fantastic treatment from the first phone call to the labour ward. I was reassured about how things would happen and made to feel comfortable about when to go to the hospital. On arrival at the labour ward I was greeted by the midwife I had spoken to on the phone. They settled me in and took into account my wishes with regard to pain relief. They explained what was going to happen and when and made the whole situation seem straightforward, when I was feeling that calm!

My experience on the labour ward was excellent. At shift change the midwife I had been under the care of introduced me to the new midwife and explained my wishes on my behalf.

I received excellent treatment immediately after my sons birth, before being moved up to the post natal ward.

On the post natal ward I was welcomed and made to feel comfortable. The staff there were incredibly supportive with regard to helping me breastfeed my son. They offered support throughout the first night, even taking him for a cuddle to give me a break when I needed it.

They were approachable and kind throughout my stay. We also had support from the paediatric team, who again were so caring and considerate of our concerns. They made it clear what was happening and kept us informed throughout.
