I just want to thank Willen Hospice for the most wonderful and respectful care they gave to my mother who died a year ago.

My mum got so much from attending the centre in the last few years before her death and met some inspirational patients and staff during this time. My brothers and I live in Australia and when she suddenly deteriorated and was admitted to the hospice from Milton Keynes Hospital, we jumped on a flight and travelled back.

When we arrived from Heathrow, the staff made us so comfortable, and had obviously provided such wonderful end of life care to mum. They ensured she had a pain free and respectful death and my brother and I were able to be at her side. They provided us with a place to stay so after such an exhausting and emotional journey we were able to be near and to take our time saying goodbye. The staff were warm, loving and so obviously cared for my mum and us.

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us how much you appreciated the work of the staff at Willen Hospice, as they cared for your mum and ensured that she had a comfortable and pain-free death.

Many of the staff, particularly in the Wellbeing Centre, remember your mum very fondly, and how they got to meet you when you were visiting her. I used your story (and that of your mum) in a recent presentation to some of our corporate supporters - it is so encouraging to everyone when care goes well.

I'm sure the time since you lost your mum has not always been easy, but hearing the sort of person that she was, very selfless and devoted to her friends and family, I am sure you are left with the most wonderful memories of her.
