"the waitin area was full to capasity ..."

About: Northern General Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

the waitin area was full to capasity and was in a awfull state. There was blood spatters on the wall and seats. There were broken seats makin less space. We were never informed how long we were likly to be waiting, as we couldnt get a babysitter at such short notice we had to bring him too. if we had been informed of waitin times i would have taken him else where. i also noticed the ladies toilets had not been cleaned/checked since 2am that morning we arrived at 10.30am. i feel the sheffield hospitals have a fantastic service but the waitin areas are just not to satisfaction, i feel there is high risk of infection and contamination whilst wating!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback about your recent experience,

The Trust are currently developing quality standards for all reception and out patient areas across the Trust, which will result in improved information given to patients on arrival and throughout their hospital visit.

We are also progessing with various work to improve the hospital environment, and have audited waiting areas through mystery shopper visits.

We are sorry to hear that when you visited, the waiting area was unsatisafactory, and would like to look into this matter. In order to do so we will require further information, please contact our patient services team on 0114 271 2400 or alterbatively email on PST@sth.nhs.uk.
