"Disgusted in Consultants treatment of my mother"

I have never been so disgusted by the attitude shown to my mother during a consultation. Over 2 hours late, no apology, never made eye contact and spent the entire session resting their head on their arm.

Spent a good proportion of the session talking about her liver when it was her pancreas she was there for. Referred to her age on multiple occasions and made her feel worthless and not worth investing treatment in. I will be asking for a second opinion and for a change of specialist. The lack of compassion, disrespect and sheer arrogance shown was disgraceful and not acceptable

We were very sorry to hear of your experience within our Gastroenterology service where you found your mother's consultant was not professional during her consultation. It is difficult to respond in full to your concerns without more detail but please be assured that the issues you have detailed have been taken seriously and shared with the Directorate Manager of Gastroenterology.
