"Shocking Behaviour"

About: Hillingdon Hospital

I can say some members of staff are very kind, friendly and helpful I can't say the same for the more senior staff members.

My nan was in hospital recently and was on a ward- the discharge process was awful and it ended up in her being a failed discharge and back in within a 24 hour period. Something we already knew was going to happen before her first discharge.

After the second admission and discharge- it went a lot smoother thankfully but my nan had to come back in a week later as a day case to the same Ward. The service on that day was shocking.

They were completely unaware of her coming to the ward even though we were told to bring her in for 8am. They had no bed ready for her and had to sit her in a day room. For the duration of her day stay- she remained sitting in a hard chair, no bed was obtained for her as was meant to be and the most shocking thing of all was a nurse removing her catheter from her on a toilet!!!!! Where is her divinity here and comfort after being in pain for the last week????

There was no lunch for her- so the entire day she had a cup of tea. This is disgraceful that an old lady was treated like this and clearly due to lack of communication they did not even know she was coming back in.

The after care has equally been shocking and due to this she ended up getting an infection from her catheter as no district nurses were arranged to come and see her.

When asking for a medical update on my nan- everyone seemed to look at me as though I had two heads. With responses like "we have already told your nan what is going on". Unfortunately due to my Nan's age she is not as able as she used to be to retain all information given to her. We were made to feel like a nuisance when asking about the welfare of our family member.

I would not recommend this hospital to anyone and was already quite aware of the negative comments that are made about this hospital prior to her admission.

I am really sorry to hear of your grandmother’s experience whilst under the care of the surgical division. The standard of care for each individual patient is of the utmost importance to the division and Trust. We always appreciate patients and relatives who raise concerns of the delivery of care given.

Could we possibly meet to discuss further your concerns about the treatment that your grandmother received
