"Had the misfortune of taking my wife here twice."

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I had the misfortune of taking my wife here twice in recent weeks. Firstly following an episode of poor breathing that had led to an asthma attack, she was pushed through to meddoc, instead of A&E. Given antibiotics, and sent home again. Six days later we ended up back there in A&E, this time they did a chest x-ray and diverted her into Meddoc. She was oddly sent home... I was always taught that breathing difficulties, more so in asthmatics where serious stuff - apparently no more.

What I have worked out from both visits, is that more patients are diverted from A&E in to Meddoc - possibly to reduce waiting times, and keep people out of their treatment times. While I was there I saw a number of people go from A&E to Meddoc, and oddly back again... clearly playing the waiting time target game, with patients lives, and care... Poor practice, and poor care.. no consideration really given for the patient..
